Welcome to the 

Kitsap Literary Scene   

 KLS is currently undergoing a much overdue rework.  Please be patient with us.

Kitsap County is a fine place to live; fresh air, open spaces, affordable  housing, and teeming with cultural activities, if you know where to look for them. But that's just the trouble, where do you look for them?  This site is my humble effort to answer at least part of that question.

    When I made a serious commitment to my writing, I started looking for like-minded individuals. From my front porch, if the leaves are off the trees and if I stand in just the right spot, I can see Seattle. Lots of opportunity there; classes, readings, writer's groups, conferences, agents, and even publishers. But I don't live there, and the assorted commitments that make up my everyday life don't make an hour or more of commuting time each way very attractive.

    So what was closer to home? Lots! Almost all of it advertised on 3 x 5 cards tacked to community bulletin boards, in-house newsletters, three lines in the back of the paper or by the powerful, but very short range, word of mouth. This site is devoted to gathering all  that in one place.

For the writer, we have listings of writing groups, classes and publishing opportunities. Got Kids? Check out the listings for children's activities.  Local authors are featured as well as links to other cultural activities in Kitsap County.

And here's the stuff to keep me out of trouble: It is my goal to list as many local activities as possible, if your favorite isn't listed, I probably don't know about it or simply haven't gotten it posted yet. I do, however, reserve the right to delete any listing from the site at any time for any reason and/or add editorial commentary to any listing. Such comments will be labeled as my opinion. Since I don't expect to be able to check out everything personally, inclusion on this list does not imply any endorsement of that activity.
